Why are there different types of products?

Here at Bulldog we have made specific ranges for normal skin, sensitive skin, oily skin and mature skin. Each of our ranges contains specially selected ingredients to help with the specific problems faced by men’s skin. That’s why there’s a moisturiser in our Original, Sensitive, Oil Control and Age Defence ranges.

Are Bulldog Products Recyclable?

What products should I be using?

If you’re new to the world of skincare (or just looking for a quick daily routine) the best way to start is to use a Face Wash twice a day, morning and evening, always followed by a Moisturiser. This will help to cleanse, refresh and hydrate your skin without leaving feeling dry or greasy. If you’d like to step up your regime we’d suggest try adding in a Face Scrub two to three times a week in place of your Face Wash. It is not necessary to exfoliate more than three times a week and you should always follow with a Moisturiser. Whatever your skin type (normal, sensitive, oily or mature) you’ll be able to find the ideal routine for you.

How should I use the beard products?

Use the Original Beard Shampoo & Conditioner on wet hair to wash the beard and then rinse off (as you would a Shampoo & Conditioner for the head). Dry off the hair with a towel, pour a few drops of Original Beard Oil into the palms, rub together and then apply through the beard. This will help improve the shine of the hair and soften, tame and condition the beard. Alternatively (or additionally) apply a small amount of Original Beard Balm to the hair to style, condition and moisturise.

Any tips for oily/greasy skin?

Yes, lots of things can contribute to oily or greasy skin such as diet and pollution, but that doesn’t mean you can’t try and control the effects. Start off with our Oil Control Face Wash twice a day, morning and evening, to remove excess oil and leave the skin feeling refreshed and deeply cleansed. Always follow with our Oil Control Moisturiser for lightweight hydration and a mattified finish. Our Oil Control Face Scrub has been specially formulated with black charcoal to exfoliate the skin. It is not necessary to exfoliate more than three times a week. Once a week (or twice if required) use the Oil Control Face Mask before using the Oil Control Moisturiser. This will minimise excess oil and deeply cleanse the skin.

Sensitive skin

All our Sensitive products have been specially formulated fragrance-free to help minimise irritation. Use our Sensitive Face Wash twice a day, morning and evening, always followed by our Sensitive Moisturiser. This will help to cleanse, refresh and hydrate your skin without leaving feeling dry or greasy. Two to three times a week substitute our Sensitive Face Wash for our Sensitive Face Scrub to exfoliate the skin. Our Sensitive Face Scrub is a great way to prep the skin prior to shaving but it also deeply cleanses the skin whether you are clean shaven or have facial hair. It is not necessary to exfoliate more than three times a week.

Mature Skin

We get it, while growing older has its benefits, we could all use little help to look our best. Our Age Defence range has been developed with a powerful blend of antioxidants to help fight free radical damage. Start off with our Age Defence Moisturiser proven to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles after 4 weeks. It’ll also brighten the complexion and leave your skin feeling moisturised and nourished. Use twice a day, morning and evening. Our Age Defence Serum contains double the concentration of antioxidants as our Age Defence Moisturiser, this serum has been formulated to leave the skin feeling firm, smooth and nourished. Use this underneath the Age Defence Moisturiser for an extra boost of hydration. Finish off with our Age Defence Eye Roll-On. Formulated to help reduce the appearance of fine lines, dark circles and puffiness. Use throughout the day as required.

How is Bulldog reducing its use of plastic?

We’re committed to doing things in the best possible way which means that we’re doing a lot of industry leading work to reduce our use of plastic, water and fossil fuels. You can find out more on our sustainability page here.

What’s the expiration date for my product?

The before opening date for all Bulldog products is three years from manufacture. The ‘open pot’ logo on the back of the pack denotes the guidance on after opening usage. Typically for Bulldog products this is 12 months but for some of our range it is 6 months.

When was my product manufactured?

There’s a batch code crimped into the top of the tube (or printed onto the carton or bottle), email us this number and we’ll let you know!

Do you test on animals?

Definitely not. All Bulldog products are certified by Cruelty Free International. This means we do not use any animal derived ingredients and work only with ingredient suppliers that comply with our policy on animal testing. You can find more information about how our ethical approach to skincare here.

Are your products vegan?

They sure are. All are products are suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

Are your products gluten free?

Yup, all Bulldog Skincare products are gluten free.

Do your products contain nuts?

Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee that customers who suffer from allergies will not react to our formulations. In addition to some types of nuts being present in this product as specified above, materials derived from nuts are commonly used in cosmetic and toiletry formulations and as such our manufacturers and suppliers do handle these materials.

Do your products contain microbeads?

No! Bulldog products have never contained microbeads or microplastics, we use natural alternatives.Microbeads are tiny pieces of plastic commonly used in exfoliators, but they are so tiny that water treatment plants cannot filter them out effectively. This means that they end up in our seas, and once there, they can cause big problems for marine wildlife. Not good. We took this decision back in 2007 when we launched Bulldog and are delighted that legislation (and the rest of the industry) have caught up with our thinking!

A-ha! You say you don’t have plastic in your ingredients, but I can see the ingredient Acrylate cross polymer!

Acrylate cross polymer is not a plastic, it’s a thickener commonly used in cosmetics and therefore completely unrelated to microbeads.

Are Bulldog moisturisers non comedogenic?

There’s no scientific definition of non-comedogenic so it’s hard for us to answer. What we can say is that our moisturisers are specially formulated for male skin and therefore shouldn’t block pores. All skin reacts differently to different moisturisers and we have taken care developing and formulating our moisturisers to try to reduce the likelihood of out-breaks. Lots of different things can cause skin out-breaks and weather, diet, lifestyle can have a big influence.

There’s product left in my tube

We use the fewest possible components in our packaging (along with 50% sugarcane plastic in our tubes) to reduce waste as much as possible. The best way of getting the most out of your tube is to hold onto the top and swing it backwards and forwards a few times (like you’re bowling, just without letting go!). The centrifugal force then pushes the fill down to the lid end. And it’s science for another win.

My tube isn’t full!

Fear ye not! Our tubes are filled to the volume listed on the front of the pack (i.e. Original Moisturiser 100ml) and we carry out stringent checks during the filling process to ensure that the declared volume is met.The reason why the fill does not go all the way to the top is that then it wouldn’t be possible to close and seal during manufacture. The volume of the empty space at the top is less in volume than the filled space at the bottom due to the shape of the tube.
